Tech radar
Problem description
One of the challenges we face as software engineering teams is technology stacks. Some decide for a narrow spectrum of 2 or 3 technologies, at the cost of losing opportunities that fall outside. Others decide to have a wider variety of technologies at hand, at the cost of needing people on the team who have relevant experience in as many of them as possible.
Manas decided for the second approach, which means we are constantly making technology exploration efforts and investing in learning.
How the tool solves the problem
The Tech Radar helps us make a better administration of those exploration efforts, and also provides awareness about our current strengths and weaknesses as a team.
The radar organizes tools and technologies according to the stage of adoption we have on the team: those we can readily implement for customer projects (Adopt) those for which we are currently on a learning curve (Assess) and those for which we’re only getting started (Trial).
Radar
Our Tech Radar also organizes technologies in Languages/Frameworks, Techniques, Platforms, or Tools.
