Problem description

When we introduced a peer-review compensation system, we wanted a distributed, uniform and disintermediated process for assigning raises.

At the same time, we needed to find a way for the process to be transparent and auditable, but also have a degree of confidentiality and anonymity to avoid people gaming the system.

How the tool solves the problem

Each person sees a list of every other employee, and their current salary, and the total amount of money available for raises at that time. They input the salary raise they think each person deserves, using the criteria they feel appropriate: performance, effort, dedication, teamwork, seniority.

The process repeats for (usually) 3 to 5 rounds, and the system mainly works as an assistant, keeping track of every raise allocation, providing a systematic structure for something that is otherwise quite straightforward: rewarding our peers for the work they’ve contributed to the organization during a period of time.

Each round, people see a list of their peers with their corresponding salaries, their salaries before the peer-to-peer assignment, the accumulated raise from previous rounds, and a slot to enter a new raise. On the top right corner, the available amount for raises is displayed.
