Project genome

Problem description

As an organization, we wanted to gain a better understanding of things we liked and disliked in projects, to find projects that were a better fit with our team. Beyond building a compass to look for new projects, this tool could also serve to evaluate the projects that we come across.

How the tool solves the problem

The tool allows us to explore the traits of different projects we have done or are currently doing, and see how they compare to our current ideals.

The visualization is a radar chart, where each radio represents the level of ‘fitness’ that each dimension has with our team’s preferences. This can easily evolve and adapt over time, as each new member of the team takes a quick survey and updates the composition of the team’s preferences.

Project traits

For each project, an overall score is shown, formed by the correspondence of each of the project’s traits with the team’s assessed preferences.
